Located in an area nicknamed the "Albanian Alps," Valbona Valley National Park covers an area of 80 km². Celebrated for its landscape diversity—featuring cliffs, forests, lakes, waterfalls, and glacial springs—it's a true paradise for trekking enthusiasts.

It's particularly renowned for its stunning hike connecting it to Thethi National Park. This 12.5 km trek takes between 6 and 7 hours. During your excursion, you may catch glimpses of grey wolves, lynx, a booted eagle, or a lanner falcon! Valbona Park is also home to four charming villages (Cerem, Valbonë, Dragobi, and Rragam).

Dajti Mountain National Park: Perfect for outdoor activities

Butrint National Park: Discover an archaeological site nestled in nature

Located in southern Albania, Butrint National Park encompasses a vast archaeological site. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its "outstanding universal value," this area preserves remnants dating from the Bronze Age through the 19th century. An ideal playground for trekking enthusiasts, visiting requires sturdy hiking shoes (plan for approximately 3 hours of walking). Note that access to the archaeological site requires an entrance fee.

 

Surrounding the archaeological site, you'll find lakes, salt marshes, and reed beds (wetland areas that shape the landscape and contribute to biodiversity balance). Inhabited by over 400 animal species, you may spot golden jackals (rare in Europe) or red foxes during your excursion. The park is also recognized for its high concentration of bird species by BirdLife International.
