Pathfinder of secret Balkans, based in Pristina

Albania is a country that constantly surprises. You come for its landscapes, mountains and coastline, but you leave above all marked by the encounters and the incredible hospitality of its people.

Quentin

Quentin discovered Albania almost by chance, during a combined trip with Kosovo. This first contact with the Balkans marks a turning point: fascinated by the landscapes, the warmth of the locals and the feeling of traveling through a still-preserved Europe, he decides to settle in the region and founds Breath in Travel in 2014. From Prishtinë, he designs tailor-made journeys through Albania with the desire to showcase a country still far from major tourist flows. He particularly enjoys revealing the diversity of Albanian territories: the mountains of the north, UNESCO-listed stone villages, the coastal roads of the Riviera or rural regions where traditions remain very present. His approach favors fluid itineraries, meaningful encounters and experiences that allow you to understand the country beyond its landscapes. With Quentin, Albania is discovered as a vibrant, generous destination still full of surprises.

Everything you need to know about Albania

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to visit Albania?

Albania is best explored from late April to mid-October, though each season reveals its own character. Spring awakens the Valbona and Theth valleys, where trails emerge from lingering snow—ideal for trekking in the Albanian Alps, still quiet from other hikers. June and September remain our favorite months: the Ionian coast around Ksamil and Dhërmi stays peaceful, the water is already warm, and inland temperatures stay comfortable. July-August heat up considerably in Tirana and Berat; altitude is your best bet then. Autumn, more contemplative, offers stunning light over Lake Ohrid and Ottoman villages. Winter is reserved for the curious.

What budget should you plan for a trip to Albania?

Albania remains one of Europe's most accessible destinations, without being a "budget" option. For a tailor-made trip of ten to fifteen days, expect an average of between €1,200 and €1,900 per person excluding flights, in a double room, with a car, charming accommodations and a few guided activities (kayaking in Gjipe, hiking in Valbona, tastings at Berat producers). Family guesthouses run around €40 to €70 per night, a hearty meal rarely exceeds €15, and distances are short. The budget increases according to your desired comfort level, pace and season: July-August on the Ionian coast obviously drives accommodation prices up.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in Albania?

Albania is worth the effort. Secondary roads, family-run guesthouses where staff speak neither English nor French, poorly marked mountain trails, Lake Koman ferries with fluctuating schedules—all of this requires genuine ground knowledge. Based in Pristina, our team has been traveling throughout the country since 2016 and works directly with its partners—drivers, trekking guides, hosts in Përmet and Theth. Working with an English-speaking local agency means gaining refined itineraries, responsiveness on the ground, and accuracy in recommendations. It also means traveling differently than following a standard circuit: we adjust each leg according to your pace, your interests, and the reality of the season.

What to see on a trip to Albania?

A great Albanian itinerary combines sea, mountains, and Ottoman heritage. Many start in Tirana, with its thriving art scene and bunkers converted into museums, before heading to Berat and Gjirokastër, two UNESCO-listed cities where whitestone houses cascade down hillsides. Further south, the Ionian coast unfolds its coves between Himarë and Saranda, with the ancient site of Butrint as a highlight. The north, more rugged, is our favourite: a boat crossing of Lake Koman, followed by the legendary trek between Valbona and Theth through the Albanian Alps. For those with time to spare, Korçë, Përmet and the inland Riviera beautifully extend the journey.

First trip with Nomadays. Despite a tight schedule (less than 8 days to plan everything), the agency managed to meet our request. Accommodations, road trip, and activities matched our profile and budget. The agency was able to adapt according to our needs. Albania is a country worth discovering.
