How to choose your trip to Albania?

Albania is best explored by complementary regions rather than all at once. A trip of 10 to 14 days allows you to combine two distinct experiences, for example Tirana, the UNESCO cities of the south and the Ionian Riviera, or the Northern Alps with Shkodër and Lake Koman. Beyond 15 to 20 days, you can add the eastern lakes (Ohrid, Prespa) and a possible excursion to Kosovo or North Macedonia. Distances may seem short on the map, but secondary roads require a slow pace, which must be factored into your itinerary from the start.

Our different trip types

Our cultural trips explore the Ottoman heritage of Berat and Gjirokastër, the ancient Illyrian and Greek sites of Butrint and Apollonia, and communist history through Tirana's bunkers. Adventure trips combine trekking in Theth-Valbona, canyoning in the Osum, kayaking on Lake Koman, and mountain biking around Llogara National Park. For families, we focus on the Ionian Riviera with its calm beaches of Ksamil, castle visits like Kruja, and short stages of no more than 2 to 3 hours' drive per day.

What is the best season?

May to October covers most preferences. May-June and September offer the best balance: 22 to 28°C, warm sea from June onwards, limited crowds and green landscapes. July-August bring holiday crowds to the coast with temperatures of 30 to 35°C inland, a period better suited to the Northern Alps where you can escape the heat. October extends the season for cultural cities, November to March is reserved for urban stays and low-altitude treks. Alpine passes close with the first snows.
